Since acquiring peoplesoft (peoplesoft previously acquired jde, the third largest ERP company), Oracle has become the runner-up in the ERP market. Oracle's main management software product, Oracle Applications R11i, is currently a fully integrated e-commerce company. On standard postgres benchmarks, my own $1500 thinkpad laptop outperformed a $9000 per month cloud database on amazon rds, as shown in the following benchmark: This one is mind-boggling.
